Hyperborea info in booklet. Hyperborea was the last album that tangerine dream made on the virgin label after a near ten year association and to be fair lots of success. Electronic rock style. I have to say that this is a fine album and along with tangram 1980 is certainly one of the better albums released by tangerine dream during the 1980s.

Hyperborea is very much an anomaly in this era of tangerine dream being more based around suggestive mood pieces than simple pop pieces or extensive synth solos. The decision not to renew the contract must have given messrs froese franke and schmoelling a real boot up the jacksey musically and creatively because hyperborea is in my opinion the best record that this line up made for virgin. The virgin recordings 1980 1983 showcases the next chapter and features newly remastered versions of the albums tangram thief exit white eagle logos hyperborea along with the previously unreleased soundtracks. Hyperborea 1983 would prove to be the last tangerine dream album released on the virgin records label and the mood throughout is contemplative.

Even reflective at times. There exists another version identical in almost every way but with a mould sid code on the matrix hub pointing to a post 1993 reissue repress. Virgin v2292 virgin 205 801 format. It is perhaps this that makes it somewhat forgotten yet it is this that makes it my favourite album of theirs.
